Ageing contributes to a decline in the quantity and quality of skeletal muscle, leading to a loss of muscular endurance and strength, which in the long term results in muscular atrophy. This is mainly responsible for the decline in physical mobility in the elderly. This is why it is recommended that the elderly should practise appropriate physical exercise, with a focus on improving muscular and aerobic endurance, as well as promoting metabolic health.
In 2021, a study was carried out in which 42 healthy elderly people (aged 65-82) took part. For 12 weeks, they ingested natural Astaxanthin and practised resistance training on a regular basis. The authors of this study concluded that there was an increase in fat oxidation in low-intensity exercise and an improvement in muscle efficiency, endurance and performance in the group of elderly people who ingested natural Astaxanthin.
AZORA, an ally in promoting muscle health! Whether for a healthy individual, an athlete or an elderly person.
