August 5, 2020 · The Minister of the Sea, Ricardo Serrão Santos, visited Algicel, on the island of São Miguel, in what was another visit framed within the Blue Economy and Entrepreneurship Itinerary. Algicel is an Azorean company specialized in the production and cultivation of microalgae in closed photobioreactors, using a patented process. Recently, Algicel began commercializing Azora Astaxanthin, an antioxidant dietary supplement extracted from microalgae. Organized by DGPM – Directorate-General for Maritime Policy, the Blue Economy and Entrepreneurship Itinerary is a cycle of visits dedicated to innovative Portuguese companies in the area of the maritime economy.
